Position Summary

 

The Housekeeping Services Agent – Public Area is responsible for ensuring that all public spaces throughout the hotel are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and presentation. This role plays a vital part in creating an excellent first impression for guests by ensuring that every public area is consistently clean, organized, and comfortable.

 

The successful candidate will work closely with the Housekeeping team and other hotel departments to ensure the hotel environment remains pleasant, safe, and fully prepared for guests throughout the day.

 

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:

 

– Maintain cleanliness and hygiene throughout all public areas of the hotel.

– Perform scheduled cleaning of hotel lobbies, entrances, reception areas, corridors, elevators, staircases, guest lounges, restaurants, banquet areas, meeting rooms, business centers, fitness facilities, and other public spaces.

– Clean, sweep, vacuum, mop, scrub, dust, sanitize, and polish all assigned areas according to hotel standards.

– Maintain the cleanliness of public washrooms by disinfecting fixtures, replenishing soap, tissue paper, paper towels, hand sanitizers, and other guest amenities.

– Empty trash bins and dispose of waste in accordance with hotel environmental and waste management procedures.

– Clean glass panels, mirrors, windows, handrails, doors, metal fixtures, decorative surfaces, and other high-touch areas.

– Ensure all floor surfaces remain clean, dry, and safe for guests and employees.

– Perform periodic deep cleaning tasks as assigned by supervisors.

– Operate housekeeping machinery and cleaning equipment safely and efficiently.

– Store cleaning chemicals and equipment properly following workplace safety procedures.

– Inspect assigned public areas regularly and immediately report maintenance issues such as damaged furniture, lighting failures, plumbing leaks, malfunctioning equipment, or safety hazards.

– Respond promptly to cleaning requests from supervisors or other hotel departments.

– Assist with the preparation and cleaning of banquet facilities before and after events.

– Support special cleaning projects during hotel functions, festive seasons, or high occupancy periods.

– Follow hotel standard operating procedures at all times.

– Maintain professional grooming and appearance while on duty.

– Deliver courteous assistance to hotel guests by responding to simple enquiries or directing guests to the appropriate department.

– Cooperate with colleagues to ensure efficient daily housekeeping operations.

– Participate in departmental meetings and training sessions when required.

 

 

 

Candidate Requirements

 

Applicants should possess the following qualifications and attributes:

 

– No previous working experience is required. Comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided.

– Previous experience in hotels, serviced apartments, shopping malls, hospitals, commercial buildings, airports, cruise terminals, or cleaning services will be considered an advantage.

– Able to communicate in basic spoken English to understand work instructions and respond to simple guest enquiries.

– Knowledge of Cantonese or Mandarin is beneficial but not essential.

– Physically fit and capable of standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing housekeeping carts, and performing cleaning duties throughout the workday.

– Strong attention to cleanliness, hygiene, and detail.

– Honest, reliable, responsible, and self-motivated.

– Positive attitude with a willingness to learn new skills.

– Able to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively within a team environment.

– Good interpersonal and communication skills.

– Willing to work rotating shifts, weekends, public holidays, and overtime when operational needs require.

– Punctual, disciplined, and committed to maintaining high service standards.
