The hotel is currently inviting enthusiastic, dependable, and service-oriented individuals to join the Housekeeping Department as Public Area Attendants. Position Overview
The Public Area Attendant is responsible for maintaining exceptional standards of cleanliness, hygiene, presentation, and safety throughout all public areas and designated operational areas of the hotel. This role is essential in ensuring that guests, visitors, and employees experience a clean, comfortable, and pleasant environment at all times.
Working under the supervision of the Housekeeping team, the successful candidate will carry out daily cleaning operations, replenish supplies, inspect assigned areas, operate professional cleaning equipment, and support various housekeeping activities to ensure that all hotel facilities consistently meet Accor’s operational standards.
The position requires a strong commitment to quality, attention to detail, physical stamina, teamwork, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will perform a comprehensive range of housekeeping duties, including but not limited to the following:
– Carry out daily cleaning schedules for all Front of House areas including the hotel entrance, reception lobby, concierge area, guest corridors, elevators, lift lobbies, restaurants, lounges, banquet halls, meeting rooms, business facilities, recreational areas, fitness centre, public washrooms, and other guest-accessible facilities.
– Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of Heart of House areas including staff corridors, employee facilities, offices, service corridors, storage rooms, housekeeping workstations, loading areas, and other operational locations.
– Sweep, vacuum, mop, scrub, polish, dust, sanitize, and disinfect floors, carpets, marble surfaces, furniture, fixtures, mirrors, windows, glass partitions, decorative items, stainless steel surfaces, and all assigned equipment.
– Ensure that all public restrooms remain clean, sanitized, fully stocked, odor-free, and well-maintained throughout each working shift.
– Refill soap dispensers, tissue holders, hand towels, sanitary products, air fresheners, and all guest consumables whenever necessary.
– Replace damaged or depleted guest amenities promptly to maintain a positive guest experience.
– Empty rubbish bins regularly, separate recyclable materials where applicable, and dispose of waste according to hotel environmental sustainability practices and local regulations.
– Conduct periodic deep-cleaning assignments according to departmental schedules and operational requirements.
– Clean high-touch surfaces such as elevator buttons, handrails, door handles, reception counters, payment terminals, tables, chairs, and frequently used public equipment to maintain superior hygiene standards.
– Operate professional housekeeping equipment including industrial vacuum cleaners, floor scrubbers, floor polishers, carpet extraction machines, pressure washers, steam cleaning equipment, and other cleaning machinery.
– Use cleaning chemicals responsibly by following manufacturer instructions, safety procedures, and hotel operating guidelines.
– Inspect assigned work areas throughout the shift to ensure cleanliness standards remain consistently high.
– Identify maintenance defects including damaged furniture, malfunctioning lighting, plumbing issues, broken fixtures, loose carpeting, leaking pipes, and safety hazards, and report them promptly to the Engineering Department or Housekeeping Supervisor.
– Respond promptly and courteously to guest requests related to housekeeping services and public area cleanliness.
– Assist with the preparation and cleaning of banquet venues, conference rooms, restaurants, and function spaces before, during, and after events.
– Support housekeeping colleagues during peak operational periods and cooperate with other departments whenever additional assistance is required.
– Maintain housekeeping pantries, janitorial closets, and storage rooms in a clean, organized, and fully stocked condition.
– Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies and report shortages to supervisors in a timely manner.
– Follow all occupational health and safety regulations, fire prevention procedures, emergency protocols, and infection control guidelines.
– Handle lost-and-found property according to hotel procedures while ensuring complete confidentiality and proper documentation.
– Protect guest privacy and maintain the highest standards of professionalism while working in guest-accessible areas.
– Participate in departmental meetings, operational briefings, quality improvement initiatives, and mandatory training sessions organized by the hotel.
– Perform additional duties and special projects assigned by supervisors or hotel management to support operational excellence.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications and personal attributes:
– Previous experience in hotel housekeeping, public area cleaning, janitorial services, facility maintenance, commercial cleaning, or related industries is preferred.
– Candidates without previous hotel experience but who demonstrate a positive attitude, strong willingness to learn, and commitment to service excellence are encouraged to apply.
– Experience operating commercial cleaning machines and specialized housekeeping equipment will be considered a significant advantage.
– Basic knowledge of cleaning techniques, sanitation standards, infection prevention practices, and safe chemical handling procedures.
– Physically fit with the ability to stand, walk, bend, stretch, lift, push, and carry cleaning equipment throughout the working day.
– Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining luxury hotel presentation standards.
– Honest, responsible, punctual, disciplined, reliable, and capable of working with minimal supervision.
– Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and guests from diverse cultural backgrounds.
– Positive working attitude with flexibility to adapt to changing operational requirements.
– Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining productivity and service quality.
– Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, public holidays, overnight schedules, and overtime whenever business operations require.
