Position Overview

We are seeking reliable and customer-oriented individuals to join our team as Part-Time Supermarket Cashier / Retail Assistants. This role is suitable for candidates who enjoy working in a retail environment and have a strong interest in customer service.

You will support daily supermarket operations, including cashiering, shelf replenishment, stock handling, housekeeping, and assisting customers. Candidates should be prepared to work rotating shifts and commit to the required schedule.

Key Responsibilities

Cashiering and Customer Service

• Perform cashiering duties accurately and efficiently.
• Process customer payments and handle transactions according to store procedures.
• Provide friendly, professional, and helpful service to customers.
• Assist customers with general enquiries and product-related assistance when required.
• Maintain a positive and welcoming shopping experience.

Shelf Replenishment and Product Display

• Arrange and display products neatly on shelves.
• Replenish products regularly to maintain adequate stock levels.
• Monitor product expiry dates and shelf life.
• Ensure products are properly arranged and presented according to store standards.
• Check product condition and report any issues when necessary.

Stock Handling

• Assist with the loading and unloading of incoming goods.
• Move and organise products within designated storage areas.
• Ensure goods are stored properly and safely.
• Support stock replenishment activities throughout the shift.
• Be prepared to handle items weighing up to 10kg as part of regular stock duties.

Store Housekeeping

• Perform daily housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and organised store.
• Keep shelves, aisles, cashier areas, and other assigned areas neat and presentable.
• Follow store cleanliness, safety, and operational procedures.
• Assist with other retail duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

• Strong interest in customer service and retail operations.
• Friendly, responsible, and service-oriented attitude.
• Able to communicate effectively with customers and team members.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced supermarket environment.
• Able to perform physical duties, including lifting and carrying items of up to 10kg.
• Willing to work rotating 8-hour shifts.
• Able to commit to 4 days per week for at least 3 months.
• Reliable and punctual with good attendance.
• Previous retail or cashier experience is an advantage, although the role may be suitable for candidates with relevant transferable skills.

Working Environment

This position involves both customer-facing and operational responsibilities. Employees will be expected to move between cashiering, shelf replenishment, stock handling, housekeeping, and customer assistance depending on daily store requirements.

Candidates should be comfortable remaining active during their shifts and working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the supermarket operates smoothly.

Compensation and Opportunity

The position offers an hourly rate of SGD 12.50–14.50, depending on the applicable role and arrangement. Successful candidates will gain practical experience in supermarket retail operations, cashiering, inventory handling, merchandising, and customer service.
